Sometimes an album download link will mysteriously die on this site. If you find one let me know! I’ll get on the case and fix it as soon as possible.

Many times the jerks who own the rights to a video on YouTube will only allow playback of their vids on YouTube’s site. So, you can visit YouTube to check them out or let me know which ones aren’t working on Rebuilt Tranny and I’ll repost them on Vimeo.

  1. Hi, thanks for sharing! Concerning the “Volume Two” for “2001″: I was thrilled to find your post, since I long ago wore my copy of the LP out! However, when I try to extract your ZIP file, track 5 — “Waltes from Der Rosenkavalier” — is messed up, will not extract. You get an error message in when using either Windows Explorer or the WinRAR extractor. Thought you would like to know. If you have time, perhaps you can maybe “re-zip” the tracks or something. Thanks again for sharing!

    • Hello Super Mark! Thanks much for bringing this to my attention. I put the MP3s up in a new ZIP and they’re ready to go. You’ll find the download link on the original page. Enjoy!

  2. Hi. So great! Finally found JBL Sessions after so many years :-)But, where is side 3? Keep up the good job!

  3. hello,
the church link on your facebook rss isn’t working… takes you to a 404 page

also, it would be great if you could make the big picture at the top go to the main page…(just my suggestion)

    thanks.

    keep up the good work!

    • Thanks for the heads up on the Facebook link. It should be ok now.

With my current setup on WordPress I can’t manipulate the HTML on the header at all. I think I’m going to bite the bullet and host the site on servers other than WordPress’ own here in the next couple of days. That way I’ll be able to do a lot of things I haven’t been able to in the past, hopefully. We’ll see. If so, things should get real interesting.

Thanks for checking out the site, tell your friends!

  4. I’ve been looking for speedway lps I can download for a long time. Thanks for all of these posts. Do you know of any other blogs posting racing stuff? Thanks.

    Lori

    • Unfortunately I don’t know of any other racing blogs for sites but if you find any let me know. Pinky promise it!

  5. Awesome website! I just found it a few weeks ago and I’ve been downloading quite a few of your rips! There were a few dead links, some I don’t even remember. Some I really looked forward to: Kraftwerks, Paul Simon Graceland, Rainbow Goblins side 2, Bach Organ Favorites has a problem with the end of the third song, Danny Elfman 12″, I forget what else. Thanks for introducing me to Tomita! I’ve been on a vinyl organ music kick lately, so please, more!

  6. Also Public Image Ltd. Happy? file is corrupt. Thanks again!

    • Thanks a bunch for letting me know, Tom! I might go ahead and re-rip all of these in FLAC so stay tuned. Either way I’ll make sure they’re up soon. Have a good one.

  7. I appreciate all the hard work – listening to all this music is the next best thing to a big score at the local thrift store! I think Marvin Gaye’s “Here, My Dear” is corrupt as well. I hope this isn’t too much trouble – I’d be just as happy with a re-up of the old mp3s as with a re-rip. Thanks again!

  8. I take it that you know that your mediafire account’s been suspended :(

    • Actually just found out. I’ve been away from the site a while waiting for a new turntable cartridge to arrive. Looks like the old music is gone, for now, but I’ll try to figure out a way to get it back up. Probably won’t be to easy…

  9. It’s happened to loads of blogs – yours, Willard’ Wormholes (Don’t get Out of the Boat as was), MP3 Locker … Seems to be Mediafire’s way of avoiding what happened to Megaupload. Good luck – because this is a cracking site …. unique even :).

    • Yeah…I’m pretty surprised the hosting lasted as long as it for all of the sites. Part of me thinks we all might be out for the count as far as full albums go, but maybe we’ll find a way. In any case, if full albums won’t be shared again, it was definitely fun while it lasted.

  10. I hope you can get Environments 4 back! I have been trying to find it for so many years now and just a few minutes ago thought to try searching again and found your 2010 post about it. I have the cassette and it still played well last time I played it but until I can find a way to save it digitally or find a better digital recording I am not playing it anymore. What a great site you have, thanks!

    • I’ll do my best but hosting days on Mediafire are probably over. I may have to revamp the site to only include albums that are completely without copyright and I think the Environments album might be included with this but I’d have to do some research. This has all just been for the fun of sharing unique music so it’s a spare time only thing. Thanks for stopping by!

  11. Hi mate, the deadhorse EP – juniorboys link is dead. I really want it now that the high quality version for the in the morning remix has been deleted! please revive it

  12. The Damned – Phantasmogoria download link is down. The site removed it. I also left a comment on the YouTube vid for Grimly Fiendish on your channel. Thanks!

    • Everything’s down. Probably won’t be back up but thanks for stopping by.

  13. Hello…

Looking for the download of the Syntonic Research Environments 3, Be In and the New Hope on the flip side. Is it still available? The link on the page is dead. Been looking for this album for many years…
    Thanks

    • The whole account is down and can’t be revived. Dead on arrival.

  14. I have been looking for that Disney album of the halloween noises for years! BUt the link is down! Is there anyway I can get a copy? I will remember you forever if you can….

    • Trust me I’d love to but the entire Mediafire account was shut down, and it looks like the days of free sharing are over.

  15. All the links to Elektra records’ “The folk box” 4 volumes are broken (in the sense that I get a http://www.mediafire.com/error.php?errno=320) – Would you please repair the broken links? I am very excited for having found those records after 40+years – in Italy they have always been a rarity, and I had the opportunity of listening to them back in the Sixties…

    • I won’t be reuploading any records but am starting an internet radio show on mutinyradio.org soon as Rebuilt Tranny’s Record Exchange. Time slot isn’t set in stone but check it out in about a month. I’ll be playing records featured from this site along with many great new finds.

  16. Wow that was odd. I just wrote an incredibly long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear. Grrrr… well I’m not writing
all that over again. Anyways, just wanted to say great blog!

  17. What a wild and wonderful collection of beautiful records! I know posting to mediafire is a waste of time… but would you please try a service I use that is very good? I have been searching for a decent sounding copy of the “Be-In” by Syntonic Research from 1969 for well… almost forever it seems. Email me at ronnybrown@Safe-mail.net and I will give you the link. Thanks a million.

    Ron

    • Thanks, check out my new show on mutinyradio.org!

  18. I think it’s a shame that you won’t be re-uploading any of your albums. Some of these albums are out of print, which makes it incredibly unfair when you are not allowed to share them. I might still have the rip of Sports Cars in Stereo, but really, really like to have the rip of Sound Effects, Daytona Speedway Sports Cars and any other album of that nature [such as A Royal Hudson – The Action Sounds of Steam Railroading in British Columbia (1975) ]. Maybe you can try another hosting service?

    Sigh…

I’ll be sure to check out your radio show if I have the time. Thanks for introducing me to some cool music!

    • It’s just the matter of man hours it takes to upload the files again. The show will be available for download on podcast (hopefully soon) and I’ll be playing many of the records that were featured on the blog. Thanks for your support, it means a lot!
